New generation take a plunge

The New Year has started fantastically for 1066 Swimmers, with our under-13 swimmers competing at Horsham.

Having selected a team from both lessons and the squad, 1066 swimmers performed well with 24 PB's from 21 swimmers, Lucy Puddefoot, Ben Bishop, Cass Matthew, Lucy Howes, Ryan Lee, Ella Connors, Jack Crompton, Charlotte Baker, Harry Dyer, Lydia Harrison, Megan Hawkesley, Robert Barnett, Katherine Turner, Henry Porter, Amelia Markfort, Harry Markfort, Briony Thornton, Jordan Hammond, Rebecca Hunnisett, Johanna Welford and JJ Choron.

For some of these swimmers, it was their first gala after only partaking in half-hour lessons, once a week. Briony Thornton, 9 yrs, gave 3 amazing swims, even though she is only in the middle group of all the lessons. She swam alongside Rebecca Hunnisett, Luke Fisher, Jack Crompton and Charlotte Baker from the lesson groups.

All swimmers arrived on poolside excited by this new experience, but also extremely nervous. They left poolside, 2 hrs later, with smiles all-round and a new experience under the belt!

Josh Bishop, new boys vice Captain said "This gala was really good fun, we had plenty of team spirit, all swimmers put lots of effort into their swims, and the new club captains, and vice captain are extremely proud of them."
