1066 open Sussex League campaign

 

1066 Swimmers travelled to Worthing to compete in the first round of the Sussex League, a competition where in each round, three teams enter two swimmers per event with six points going to first, five to second etc etc. The final tally read Worthing 437, 1066 339 and Hailsham 232. This result earned 1066 third place in the league with two rounds still to go. The local swimming club clocked up 21 first places, 11 second and 17 third place finishes. 

Lydia Harrison produced a magnificent swim in the girls u/12 breaststroke to win maximum points for 1066 and with Darius Khalesi, Ellie Williams (3 wins), Ella Watson (2 wins), Adam Rouncivell (3 wins) and Victoria Turner(4 wins) also racking up the points for 1066 it kept the scoreboard ticking along .

The boys quartets of Jean-Jaques Choron, Harry Crotty, Ryan Lee, Darius Khalesi and Conal Groves, Josh Bishop, Ben Peppiatt and Adam Rouncivell plus the girls foursome of Carys Williams, Molly Paulin, Chloe Baker and Lydia Harrison all won their respective freestyle relays.

Charlotte Rouncivell, Ella Watson, Chloe Pollard and Ellie Williams plus the four girls of Emma Cannon, Amelia Harrison, Natalie Pollard and Victoria Turner came home first in both the freestyle relay and the medley relay.

The final event of the night, the Mixed Freestyle Squadron relay saw 1066 win in convincing style with Carys Williams, Brandon Johnson, Ellie Williams, Ryan Lee, Victoria Turner, Adam Rouncivell, Megan Williams and Todd Alsop rounding off an enjoyable evening of competitive swimming. There were many notable swims on a personal level which contributed heavily to the points tally from the likes of Sophie Griggs, Natalie Pollard, Molly Paulin, Chloe Baker, JJ Choron, Conal Groves, Henri Choron, Josh Bishop, Harry Turner and Harry Dyer.
