1066 determination pays off

On the 12thof December 1066 swimmers faced their final competition not only of the year but of the decade. As always everyone was in high spirits as they travelled up to Beckenham to compete against Braintree & Bocking, Redhill & Reigate, Beckenham 'B', White Oak and Dartford District. Unfortunately 1066 were facing relegation if they failed to achieve 4th place.

Due to unlucky circumstances they were without 11 years and under boys team for this round, so every swim really did count. As the evening progressed it was clear that there was not going to be much in it point wise as while the points were being read out throughout the evening there were less than 10 points between 1st and 3rd.

All the clubs continued to change positions, with one race changing the ordering. However 1066 managed for the majority to stay within the first three places which was a real show of how hard all the swimmers were working.

In total there were 18 personal bests, swum by; Adam Rouncivell, Ryan Lee, Josh Bishop, Rebecca Ellis, Ben Bishop, Ella Watson, Matthew Kennedy, Henri Choron, Lucy Howes and Charlotte Rouncivell. Also twelve 1st places were achieved.

The determination shown by the 1066 squad paid off as they secured second place that evening, only 2 points away from first place..

"All of 1066 swam really well and supported each other all the way to the end, what more can you ask for!" (Peter Stell and Megan Williams -1066 club captains).
