On Saturday the 14th of November 1066 swimmers competed in their second
round of National ARENA swim league. The event took place in the Rainbow
Centre: Epson, with Epson District the evening's hosts, other competition
included; White Oak, Woking, Elmbridge Phoenix and Sevenoaks A.
Throughout the night 1066 alternated places mainly with White Oak and were
eventually able to top their points coming 5th place overall that evening.
1066 swimmers began the evening on a high with the relays; there were eight
50m relays in a row, beginning with the 11year olds and under working all the
way up to the open age group (Female and Male). Over half of the 32 swimmers
in these relay teams swam Personal Bests.
Personal bests kept coming with a further individual Personal Bests which
were acquired by; Carys Williams, Harry Dyer, Charlotte Rouncivell, Ryan Lee,
Darius Khalesi, Rebecca Ellis, Henri Choron, Matthew Kennedy, Molly Paulin,
Sophie Griggs, Ella Watson and Joe Slaughter. Also, a total of eight 1st
places were claimed.
Support and spirits were high all the way through to the end when the 6x50m
open relay took place (girls followed by the boys), the noise and excitement
reached its peak before the racing came to a close. The evening was concluded
with chants coming from different teams that were scattered around the
poolside, 1066 in their usual fashion, finishing off what voice they had left
on the 'Oggy'.
