
1066 travelled to Crowborough and in Beacon Swimming club's own pool won
the Andy Holden Shield in a close finish. The final tally read 1066 253
points, Beacon 228, Sevenoaks 216, Eastbourne 214, Redhill and Reigate 199 and
Tonbridge 114.
The fast and furious gala was only decided in the last few swims with 1066
sealing the victory with three consecutive wins in the Mixed Medley relay
(Chloe Pollard, Ella Watson, Ryan Lee), the Mixed Medley relay (Brandon
Johnson, Henri Choron, Chloe Baker, Molly Paulin) and the Mixed Freestyle
relay (Carys Williams, Johnson, Pollard, Lee, Ellie Williams, Joseph Stell,
Catherine Welford and Ben King) to earn maximum points.
The individual wins came from Ellie Williams (4), Charlotte Rouncivell,
Ella Watson, Chloe Pollard (3) and Chloe Baker to push 1066 towards picking up
the trophy. The Mixed breaststroke relay of Molly Paulin, Brandon Johnson,
Ella Watson, JJ Choron, Charlotte Rouncivell, Joseph Stell, Josh Bishop and
Megan Williams plus the young foursome of Molly Paulin, Henri Choron, Brandon
Johnson and Carys Williams in the medley relay and Watson, Ryan Lee, JJ Choron
and Chloe Pollard in the freestyle relay bagged maximum points for the local
swimming club.
Head Coach Dave Pollard remarked " It was an enjoyable evening and
the kids thoroughly deserved the victory. Another shield for 1066's
cabinet."
