1066 QUARTET REPRESENT SUSSEX

Four swimmers from 1066, represented Sussex recently in two major competitions, a great achievement for the local swimming club who are developing a good crop of talented swimmers.

Ellie Williams and Darius Khalesi gained their first Sussex cap at Southampton in a prestigious event to celebrate the centenary of the Hampshire swimming association. Against six other counties Sussex finished third with Darius competing in the 100m butterfly, 100m and 200m breaststroke and his age group relays recording personal bests in every event whilst Ellie produced fine performances in both the freestyle and medley relays for the County.

Adam Rouncivell and Victoria Turner were selected for the older age group team for the Inter-County championships in Sheffield. Adam clocked a personal best in the 100m freestyle and was a member of both the relay teams which swam above expectations. Victoria swam the 100m backstroke for the County recording a improved time and a National Qualifying time well ahead of schedule and was also a member of both relay teams.

The following weekend Victoria Turner attended the South East Winter Championships at Aldershot and won bronzes in the Open 50m backstroke and the Open100m backstroke bettering her time once again endorsing her position in next years National Championships.
