1066 second in last Sussex League Meet

The last round of the Sussex league for 1066 took place at Summerfields and saw the them finish second with the final tally reading Crawley
- 453, 1066 swimmers - 288 and Atlantis - 269 points. The might of Crawley, who are
reigning Sussex Champions, was to much for the local club but they produced some fine displays to beat Atlantis from Horsham.
There were individual wins for Ryan lee in both the u12 freestyle and
backstroke, Victoria Turner in both the u/16 and Open backstroke, Joseph Stell in the
u14 breaststroke, Ellie Williams in the u14 backstroke and Adam Rouncivell in the
u16 freestyle.
The quartets of Jess Honeysett, Ella Watson, Chloe Pollard Johanna Welford and Brandon
Johnson, Jean-Jaques Choron, Ryan Lee and Ben Coles won their u12 Medley Relays respectively.
Throughout the night there was a string of personal bests set and four clubs records smashed. Darius Khalesi
claimed two club records in the 50m breaststroke and butterfly and a further pb in the
freestyle. Ella Watson in the 50m breaststroke and Turner in the 100m backstroke also set new records. Ben Coles broke
three pbs with Ellie Williams and Natalie Pollard grabbing a brace of pbs each and Matthew
Kennedy, Joseph Stell, Charlie McKenna, Jess Honeysett, Charlotte Rouncivell, Chloe
Pollard, JJ Choron and Ben Peppiatt all improving their times.
Even with some much improved performances in recent galas hasn't stopped 1066 from narrowly slipping from Division one to Division two
but hopes are very high for a quick return next season.
