1066 encouraged by deluge of pbs

This year's first of three Sussex league Meets for 1066 occurred last Saturday at Bognor Regis which resulted in a victory for Brighton with 395 points, Littlehampton second on 347 and 1066 third on 261 points.

The competition pits two swimmers from each club against one another per race, apart from the relays, and even though the local club finished with least points their performance was quite remarkable considering the majority of their swimmers were swimming up age groups and they broke 39 pbs on the night.

There were individual successes in the form of first places for Chloe Pollard, 10, in the 12/u butterfly, backstroke and freestyle. Victoria Turner, 13, in the 16/u backstroke. Ella Watson,10,in the 12/u breaststroke and Adam Rouncivell,14, in the 16/u IM who had to retire through a leg injury.

The quartet of Jessica Honeysett, Johanna Welford, Chloe Pollard and Ella Watson easily won both the medley and freestyle relays in the U/12 age group.

Leading the charge with pbs were Joseph Stell with 5, followed by Ben Peppaitt, 4, Edward Kinch, 3, a cluster on two: Brandon Johnson, Matthew Kennedy, Todd Alsop, Jessica Honeysett, Megan Williams, Aadm Rouncivell, Charlotte Rouncivell and Victoria Turner plus a pb broken by Abigail Hucker, Catherine Welford, JJ Choron, Ella Watson, Natalie Pollard, Ryan Lee, Sophie Griggs, Ben King, Johanna Welford, Alice Smith and Chloe Pollard.

Though 1066 lost they won on pbs and team spirit.
