1066 MEDAL FEAST AT BOGNOR

1066 swimmers struck a triumphant note at the Bognor Sprints with a total of 67 medals,55 pbs and 3 club records which culminated in them coming second overall, only behind the home club. The Meet which consists only of all four 50m disciplines plus the 100m IM produces a fast and furious competition.

The highlight was once again the numerous pbs set with Ella Watson leading the field with 5pbs which included a new club record in the breaststroke closely followed by Joshua Bishop, Amelia Harrison, April Johns and Ellie Williams ( a new club record in the freestyle) who all notched up 4 pbs. Robert Barnett, Jessica Honeysett, Ben King, Harry Turner and Johanna Welford all bagged a hat trick of personal bests with Henri Choron, Harry Crotty, Lydia Harrison, Chloe Pollard, Natalie Pollard, Lucy Puddefoot, Victoria Turner (new club record in the backstroke) and Megan Williams all getting a brace of pbs and Emma Cannon, JJ Choron and Catherine Welford improving on their previous times.

In a somewhat complex medal system 1066 was a major benefactor with 28 golds, 21 silvers and 18 bronzes. Todd Alsop, Joshua Bishop, Chloe Pollard, Victoria Turner and Megan Williams collected 5 medals apiece. Megan Alsop, Natalie Pollard, Ella Watson, Catherine Welford and Ellie Williams picked up four medals each. April Johns, Ben King and Harry Turner scored a treble in the medal table whilst Emma Cannon, JJ Choron, Amelia Harrison and Johanna Welford were reward for their efforts with two medals and Robert Barnett, Henri Choron, Harry Crotty, Jessica Honeysett and Lucy Puddefoot rounded off a successful day for 1066 with a medal each.

Head Coach Dave Pollard was pleased with the improvement in the swimmers performances. "The younger swimmers are beginning to emerge through the ranks and everyone's pbs are a good sign that their own personal development is heading in the right direction."
