1066 Swimmers at the Berlin International Swim Meeting

Eighteen swimmers from 1066 Swimmers recently took part in the 2008 Berlin ISM. This prestigious annual meeting was attended by Olympic hopefuls and World and European record holders at various strokes with the like’s of Thomas Rupprath  and Zoe Baker.

Nineteen countries from Iceland to Brazil had swimmers in attendance.

All in all a daunting task for the young swimmers from 1066 many were at their first ISM and long course meet. Charlotte Rouncivell finishing 5th in the 50m backstroke final and Ella Watson 6th in the 50 breaststroke final were among the highlights for the squad.

Charlotte also came 7th 100 back, 6th 200 back in the 1996 age group, Ella 5th 100 breast, 4th 200 breast 1997 age group and Chloe Pollard who finished 10th 50 back and 11th 200 back 1997 age group. This enabled the young girls to finish a respectable ninth from twenty four.

Swimmers who increased their long course pbs were Todd Alsop (5 and 1 set), Adam Rouncivell (5 and 2 set), Joseph Stell (4 and 1 set), Emma Cannon (1 and 2 set), Charlotte Rouncivell (5and 2 set), Catherine Welford (5), Johanna Welford (4 and 2 set), Ellie Williams (5 and 2 set), Chloe Pollard (7 and 1 set), Ella Watson (3 and 2 set).

The swimmers setting their first pb’s at long course level were Josh Bishop(6), Charlotte Ellis(6), Amelia Harrison(6), Mathew Kennedy(6), Ryan Lee(5), Alice Smith(4) and Rosie Smith(4). After the meeting some of the children enjoyed a three day break with out twinned Swimming club ESV Frankfurt Oder staying with their families and looking around northern Germany and Poland before flying home.
