Ella, SE Champion and National qualifier

1066 swimmer Ella Watson,11, was crowned South-East Region champion at the prestigious Regional event at the K2 and secured a place at this years Nationals in Sheffield at the end of July. The young swimmer, took to the blocks for the 200m breaststroke against the Region's best swimmers and in convincing style she burst into a commanding lead in the first 100m then continued her dominance with a spectacular, gritty performance not only to guarantee her a place on the National level but clinch gold and a top podium finish. She is the first Regional champion from the local swimming club and hopefully not the last and becomes the second 1066 swimmer to reach this Nationals. She also had a fifth place finish in the 100m breaststroke to cap off a glorious championships for the promising youngster.

Eleanor Williams,12,also produced a fine display in the 100m backstroke to finish fifth in the Southeast Regionals against the might of clubs from Portsmouth, Crawley, the Channel Islands and the rest of Southern England. She then improved in her 100m freestyle. Adam Rouncivell,14, had a top ten finish in the 100m freestyle and top twenty placings in the 200M I.M,100M butterfly and the 100m backstroke. His efforts in the numerous events should book his place in next years Sussex squad. There were also top twenty positions in the 100m backstroke for Chloe Pollard in the 11 year old age group and Charlotte Rouncivell in the 12 year age group. 

Head Coach Dave Pollard said " It was a brilliant swim by Ella and she deserves her title We now have two national swimmers in our ranks with hopefully more to come. Ellie, Adam, Chloe and Charlotte all performed well and are great prospects for the future."
