1066 shine at Cranleigh

The Cranleigh Open saw 1066 collect a massive haul of 12 gold's, 12 silvers,
7 bronzes and 22 pbs. Leading the charge for medals was Matthew Kennedy,
15, who took golds in the 100m backstroke, butterfly and IM (pb) plus
silvers in both the 100m breaststroke and freestyle. He was closely
followed by Emma Cannon, 14, who claimed two golds in the 100m breaststroke and
butterfly and silvers in the 100m backstroke and IM.
The new girl on the block, Jessica Honeysett, claimed golds and pbs in
both the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke which where her only two
events. The golds kept on coming with Megan Williams, 15, triumphant in the 100m
freestyle plus three silvers in the 50m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m IM
(pb) and a bronze in the 100m butterfly.
Sophie Griggs, 12, smashed her pb to merit first in the 100m IM then took
silver in the 100m breaststroke and a bronze in another personal best time in
the 100m freestyle. Peter Stell, 16, won the 100m breaststroke and was
edged into bronze position in the 50m freestyle(pb).
Catherine Welford, 15, 1066's new girl captain claimed gold in the 50m
freestyle, silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 100m IM whilst Lydia
Harrison, 10, was yet another gold medallist this time in the 50m breaststroke.
Joseph Stell, 13, won silvers in the 100m freestyle (pb) and
breaststroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle and Josh Bishop broke his previous
best time in the 50m breaststroke to claim silver then notched pbs in the 100m
freestyle, breaststroke and IM.
Alice Smith,14,rewrote her own personal records in the 50m and 100m freestyle
to grab two bronzes.
The highlight were the numerous pbs set with Rebecca Ellis, Charlotte Ellis,
Elizabeth O'Shaugnessy, Amelia Harrison and Johanna Welford all clocking
improvements.
